The Solstice Pod Wins Two AV Industry Awards at InfoComm
InfoComm this year provided many attendees their first opportunity to see Mersive’s recently-launched Solstice Pod in action live, and they kept the Mersive team busy with a record number of visitors passing through our booth. But it was not just visitors to the booth that were captivated by Mersive’s newest product. Industry experts took notice as well, and the Solstice Pod took home two industry-leading awards from the show.
The Pod received Commercial Integrator’s BEST Award for the Collaboration category, as well as AV Technology’s Best of Show Award.
Both awards employed industry experts to rank products based on judging criteria such as innovative features, performance, competitive advantages, and price. What sets the Pod apart from other collaboration solutions is its unique set of user features, deployment/management flexibility, and breakthrough price levels. “[Solstice] seems like the best balance between science fiction and practical,” commented one InfoComm attendee after seeing a demo of Solstice. “I could easily see instructors and students adopting Mersive.”

BYOD Support for the Conference Room or Classroom
Users can bring virtually any device into a Solstice-enabled room and share content to the screen. The Pod deploys client software to Windows and OSX computers automatically without the need for an external internet connection or administrator privileges. For mobile devices, the Pod directs users to the correct app store download page for a free install of the client app.
Present from Anything, Wirelessly.
The Solstice Pod allows users to connect and share just about any visual media. Share desktops with synchronous audio, application windows, videos and images to the display. The Pod supports mirroring of Android devices. Each source is a live video stream that is updated in real-time on the display. Multi-User and Multi-Source Support. Up to 256 users can connect to the Solstice Pod, ready to share media to the display at the click of a button. Multiple sources can be shared simultaneously from the same device or from any user. Sources are automatically tiled onto the screen for side-by-side viewing or can be positioned and scaled into any custom layout.
Easy Control. '
Users engage the Pod through an intuitive drag-and-drop user interface. Click and drag any source to arrange layout, move sources quickly into and out of view, make any post full screen, or pan/zoom a single source. In the same way, videos can be paused/played through the user interface in a collaborative manner.
Touch Display Support.
Connect the Solstice Pod via USB to a touch display to enable direct display-side control over media sources posted to the display. Using touch, the display becomes a fully-functional interface with all the same controls over the collaborative session that can be found on the user devices.
Moderator Control and Security Settings.
For settings with presenters/instructors, moderator mode allows one or multiple leaders to accept/reject incoming user connections and preview media posts submitted by guest users for approval before they appear on the shared display. Moderators can either lead a session in which others are able to submit media for review, or moderators can present with no content from guest users. Other security settings include an on-screen key to limit connections from users who are not in line-of-sight, password protection for access control, and even on-the-fly ‘do-not-disturb’ that locks a secure meeting once it’s underway.
Enterprise Display Discovery.
The Solstice Pod gets meetings started quickly though a one-click connect interface. The Pod supports use of the Solstice Directory Service, a TCP/IP-based mechanism that allows client devices to discover displays on large enterprise networks that do not allow broadcast traffic. With SDS, users are presented with a simple drop-down list of display names to connect to from their client devices.
The Pod is compact and easy to deploy behind flat panel displays, above a projector, or on a tabletop. Connect the HDMI output to a display and the optional analog audio output to a room audio system to create a Solstice-enabled environment. The Pod connects to existing network infrastructure or can be deployed as a Collaboration HotSpot using its built-in wireless access point.
Using any web browser, IT administrators can remotely configure Solstice Pods. The splash screen can be modified to match corporate branding. The user-experience can be customized to remove or add features to better suit the variety of rooms throughout an organization.
