See everything - 180 degree view with the PanaCast 2

Posted by Ryan Pinke on 5/2/2017

We see lots of cameras at VideoConferenceGear.com.  We compare specs, features and do our own testing. One of the things we continually run up against is the limitations of most camera for small spaces - including those popular huddle rooms layouts. The high quality conference room video cameras can fall short in a small room where getting everyone in the camera view is key.

Enter the PanaCast 2 from Altia Systems. It's compact, lightweight, and sports a 180 degree, wall-to-wall field of view. There is a difference between most wide-angle view cameras and full 180 degree view.  Compare the two pictures below - the top one shows approximately 108 degree fov, the bottom, 180 degree fov.

It gives you about 40% more view area. That means everyone in the room can be seen without panning the camera. Also, the PanaCast 2 features 4K max resolution.  All-in-all, this is a great camera for huddle rooms. And if you're using Zoom Rooms, you can control the camera, audio, screen sharing - from one piece of software.

The PanaCast 2 also supports other video conferencing applications, such as Skype for Business, Bluejeans, Google Hangouts, GoToMeeting and the newest entrant, Amazon Chime.

In our next post, we'll take a look at some of the other features of the PanaCast 2, including Intelligent Zoom.
